Hip Homo-Hop, August Cuts


Brandishing whip-smart, radical queer lyrics, a honey wig and fabulous pedicure, Mykki Blanco, the alter ego of Michael David Quattlebaum Jr., has released “Wavvy” a new video and single. In Elle, which dubbed  Mykki “hip-hop’s new queen” on its culture blog, Quattlebaum refutes the term “gay rapper,” but rather, “a mixture of riot grrrl and ghetto fabulousness.”

The 20-year-old self described bi-girl  has dropped “Fierce,” a popping, club-hop beat that doubles as a loving nod to “Paris is Burning,” as part of “Fantasea,” her new downloadable 19-track mixtape. Check out the video below.
